OpenTHC uses 128bit numbers for tracking all the objects our distributed track-and-trace system. A benefit of this massive number-space is that any participant may generate their own values -- the odds of collision are astronomical.

We have selected to use the ULID specification for representing these numbers

  • Embedded Timestamp
  • Sortable!
  • Human Readable (as much as any huge number is)
